South African wicketkeeper-batter, Quinton de Kock, is unlikely to be available for South Africa’s white-ball series against India later this year. Instead, he may choose to play for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League. The 30-year-old is one of the most sought-after T20 cricketers in the world and has played for many franchises around the globe.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is hoping to have Quinton de Kock available for the upcoming T20I series against India on home soil. These matches are the only scheduled fixtures for South Africa before next year’s T20I World Cup. It will be interesting to see whether de Kock chooses to play for his country or participate in the Big Bash League in Australia.

The left-handed opening batsman retired from Test cricket in December of last year after the first Test against India at Centurion. The 29-year-old cited his desire to spend more time with his family as the reason for quitting red-ball cricket. Although he committed to continuing in white-ball cricket, he announced a shocking retirement from the 50-over format of the game following the completion of the ODI World Cup in India.

Among the active South African players in white-ball cricketers at the moment, de Kock has the most runs in ODIs.
