The veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh recently revealed a story on the occasion of winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 where the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar enjoyed with everyone without caring about the surroundings.
On 2nd April 2011, the entire country celebrated after MS Dhoni-led Indian team won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 by beating Sri Lanka in the final. It was India’s second World Cup trophy as they won that for the first time in 1983 edition under the leadership of Kapil Dev.
After winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, the Indian cricketers were very emotional. The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing dream was finally fulfilled on that night. Another member of that successful journey, Harbhajan Singh revealed that Tendulkar danced on that night and enjoyed wholeheartedly for the first time without caring about the surroundings.
Harbhajan said on Star Sports’ ‘Cricket Connected’ show, “That day I saw Sachin Tendulkar dancing for the first time, for the first time he didn’t care about people around him and he was enjoying with everyone which I will always remember.”
Harbhajan slept that night with the winners’ medal of that tournament. He felt great after waking up with that medal.
He revealed, “I remember sleeping with my medal on that night, when I woke up, I had the medal on me and it felt great.”

Harbhajan also claimed that it was probably the first time when he cried in front of everyone. Winning that World Cup was special for him and his teammates who dreamed that together. He admitted that it was the proudest moment of his life.
Harbhajan added, “It was something that we dreamed together, it was just coming through and it was an unbelievable feeling. I still get those goosebumps when I think about those moments. Lifting the World Cup was really something special and it was probably the first time I cried in front of everyone. That feeling was overwhelming, I didn’t know how to react.
“I couldn’t have asked for anything more than this. Winning the World Cup is the proudest moment of my life. Thanks to my team-mates. Without them, nothing would have happened. I couldn’t control my tears of joy.”
Harbhajan Singh was also the regular member during MS Dhoni-led India’s winning the ICC World T20 trophy in the inaugural edition (2007).
