In Hamilton, the youngster Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden ODI century against New Zealand in the first ODI of the ongoing three-match series. He played a mature knock with KL Rahul to take the innings forward after the skipper Virat Kohli lost his wicket in the middle overs.
Asked to bat first, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal, who played the maiden ODI, lost their wickets early, that too, inside nine overs. Coming to bat at No.3, Virat Kohli and Iyer stitched a partnership of 102 runs before skipper lost his wicket. The youngster Iyer went on to play firing innings. With KL Rahul, he recorded 132-runs partnership. Iyer, in his 103 runs knock, struck 11 boundaries and one maximum at the strike rate of 96.26.
