The 24-year-old batsman is a part of the India squad for the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa but is expected to be available for Mumbai right from the first game of the tournament as they play their matches in Bangalore, the venue for the third T20I.

Sarfaraz Khan is also back in the Mumbai fold after serving the cooling-off period. He had left Mumbai to join Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2015/16 season but made a comeback in 2018. As per the rules, he had to serve a one-year cooling-off period to be available for selection.

Dhawal Kulkarni will lead the Mumbai’s pace attack along with Shardul Thakur, who recently made a comeback for India A, and Tushar Deshpande.

All-rounder Shivam Dube is the star attraction in the Mumbai team. He has done well for India A in recent time and few good performances can see him make a strong case for selection in the national squad for Bangladesh T20Is.

Atharva Ankolekar, who scalped a fifer in India U-19’s win in the final of Asia Cup over Bangladesh, is in line to make his Mumbai debut as he has also been named in the squad.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma will be unavailable for Mumbai as they are part of the Test squad for South Africa series.

Defending champions Mumbai will face Jaydev Unadkat-led Saurashtra in their opening game on September 24. They will later take on Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.
