Mankading law is present in the rule books – Simon Taufel
The incident made Ravichandran Ashwin receive a lot of flak, as a section of people felt that it isn’t the spirit of the game. A lot of Englishman and Australians expressed their disappointment on Ashwin for his approach.
Meanwhile, the umpire Simon Taufel explained that Ravichandran Ashwin was right with his Run-Out. He added that Ashwin’s Mankading falls under the law and there is nothing to do with the Spirit of the game.
He quoted that the non-striker is not allowed to leave the crease until the bowler releases the ball, as per MCC law 41.16. And giving the non-striker a warning before attempting a run-out is a myth.
Umpires shouldn’t have entertained MS Dhoni:
Further, he went on to speak on the shocking incident when Mahendra Singh Dhoni walked into the middle to argue with the umpire. Simon Taufel rated that MS Dhoni has no right to come into the ground even the umpire did a major blunder in the middle.
He also felt that the on-field umpires would have asked MS Dhoni to head back to the dugout even before pleasing him with the argument. However, Taufel admitted that the umpire was wrong in overturning the decision.
Well, regarding the same, later, the skipper of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni was handed a 50% of his match fees. He also accepted the charges immediately.
