Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly promised that Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 would be hosted in April-May. He also hinted that the coming season might be organised in India, stating that ‘the domestic tournaments will be hosted at home’.
The IPL 2020, which will end on November 10, has been entirely hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), across three venues. The surge of COVID-19 cases in India had forced BCCI to take the league outside India.
While speaking to India Today, Sourav Ganguly informed that the Indian board is planning to host the next IPL season in the fourth month of next year.
“Yeah, absolutely. April, May we’ll have another one [IPL 2021 season],” Sourav Ganguly told India Today.’

The former Indian captain also bashed the speculation that UAE would host the England tour of India, stating that the visitors will land at home while stated that Dubai was only the venue for IPL 2020. It is understood that Ganguly hinted that the next IPL season would be in India. He also said that Ranji Trophy would also be organized and bio-bubbles will be created for the player’s safety.
“No, no it’s not true [the speculations]. The UAE was only for the IPL. Yeah, yeah. We will host England in India. We will host the domestic cricket in India. Ranji Trophy, we will create bio bubble and we will do it,” he added.
Citing that he himself had 16 times went under COVID-19 tests, Sourav Ganguly said that the hosting of IPL had decreased the scare of coronavirus and thus, they were positive of hosting further matches.
“We’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. ISL starting in November in Goa, we’ll be fine. The scare, that is not there anymore and the IPL has helped a lot. [have taken ] 16 tests covid tests (laughs), so far being good,” said the BCCI President.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad will lock horns in the second qualifier on Sunday (November 8), and the winner of this match will move on to play grand-finale against Mumbai Indians on November 10.
