Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially agreed to send the men’s national cricket team in Pakistan in this year. However, it will be the limited-overs series, unlike the earlier suggested Test series.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now desperate to organise the Test match in Pakistan. Since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team bus during the Lahore Test in March 2009, Pakistan has never hosted another Test match. From that time, the PCB has organised their all home Tests in UAE.

From 2015, Pakistan has successfully organised some international limited-overs matches. Till the date, three ODIs and nine T20Is have been organised in Pakistan since 2015.
Since 2015, Sri Lanka has played only one T20I in Pakistan. On 29th October 2017, Pakistan and Sri Lanka met at Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore) where Pakistan won by 36 runs.
Recently, the SLC sent their four-member security delegation team to Pakistan who has given the positive reports. However, the SLC has decided to agree with the limited-overs international series instead of the Test series.
According to the FTP, Sri Lanka would play the two-match Test series against the hosts Pakistan in October 2019. The PCB was requesting to the SLC to send the national team in Pakistan for at least one Test of this series. The Test series is the part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (2019-21).
Meanwhile, Pakistan would host the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka in December 2019. If Sri Lanka agreed to play the Test series in Pakistan, then the UAE would likely to organise the limited-overs series.
But the SLC has recently decided to play the limited-overs series in Pakistan, instead of the Test series. So, the FTP time schedules have been altered for these series.
