Australia completed a clean sweep of New Zealand in the 3-match ODI series after beating the visitors by 147 runs in the last ODI. After winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first. With a help of opener David Warner’s 156 runs, Australia made a total of 264 runs in 50 overs (264/8).

In reply, New Zealand was bowled out for just 147 runs. Australia won the 3rd ODI by 117 runs and won the ODI series 3-0.

  1. Australian opening batsman David Warner hit another brilliant century in this ODI. It was Warner’s 7th ODI century in 2016 which is the joint second most no. of ODI centuries by a batsman in a calendar year. In the year 2000, former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly also scored 7 ODI centuries. Sachin Tendulkar is on top in this list with 9 ODI centuries (1998).

 

  1. After 2012 CB Series, David Warner once again made consecutive ODI centuries. Before this ODI century, Warner had also hit a century (119) in the previous ODI at Manuka Oval (Canberra). Warner became the first Australian batsman to score consecutive ODI centuries on more than one occasion.

 

  1. For the fourth time in his ODI career, David Warner scored 150+ runs in an innings. Warner became the joint second most no.of 150+ scorer in ODI career along with Rohit Sharma (India, 4 times ODI 150+), Chris Gayle (West Indies, 4times ODI 150+) and Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka, 4 times ODI 150+). The record holder for most no. of 150+ scorer in ODI career is the former Indian legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar (5 times 150+ in his ODI career).

 

  1. David Warner scored 156 runs in this ODI which was the fourth highest individual ODI score by a batsman at MCG.

 

  1. David Warner scored 299 runs in this ODI series which is the new record for most runs  scored by an Australian batsman in a bilateral series of three or lesser than three matches. The previous best in this list was 294 runs by Shane Watson against Bangladesh (3-match ODI series) in 2011.
