Trent Boult, one of the best pacers of the modern era, has named Pakistan‘s great former bowler Wasim Akram as his inspiration to become the fast bowler.

Wasim Akram, the legendary cricketer, is indeed the best speedster that Pakistan has ever produced. His lethal bowling had ruled the opposition for many years.

New Zealand’s pacer spearhead Trent Boult picked Wasim Akram’s name when one fan asked him during an interaction on Instagram to name his idol who inspired him to take up fast bowling.

Boult said that he had a lot of idols but who had the most impression on him was Wasim Akram’s swing bowling. He said that no one could move the ball as the former cricketer did.

“I have a lot of idols but this guy definitely inspired me to swing the ball! No one could move the ball like he could! @wasimakramliveofficial,” said Boult.

Trent Boult shares a tip for budding pacers

Trent Boult also shared a tip to the aspirant cricketers who want to become fast bowlers. He mentioned two important characteristics to become a successful pacer – one is run up and getting through the crease. He also shared a drill to get the correct line and length.

“For me…the keys are two things- Run up and getting through the crease. The best drill for young kids is to get a long piece of string and lining it up all the way to the keeper. Then practice running and bowling straight along the line! Pace comes with practice!” he said.

Meanwhile, Trent Boult will be preparing to play in the much-awaited IPL 2020 for Mumbai Indians in the UAE. The upcoming IPL edition is his maiden stint for the four-time IPL winners. He has played for Delhi Capitals in the past edition.
