Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has stated that Mumbai Indians lack in the quantity and quality of spin bowlers in their team. With the IPL 2020 being held in UAE, where the pitches are favorable for spin bowling, MI are lacking possible game-changers in the team. They have Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar as the only spin options with previous IPL experience.
The Indian Premier League will be played in the UAE this season, where pitches are slow and dry. The change in venue was commanded because of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in India. The matches in IPL 2020 will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

MI’s spin bowling depth is worrying: Aakash Chopra
Commentator Aakash Chopra has revealed that the current champions Mumbai Indians have a big weakness in their squad, which is their spinners. Spin bowling will be very impactful at the UAE pitches and Mumbai Indians only have Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar in spinners who have IPL experience. The other two are Anukul Roy and Jayant Yadav who don’t have much experience playing in the IPL.
“One real weakness that comes to mind, keeping in mind that IPL 2020 is about to happen in the UAE and only on three grounds, is that the pitches will get tired over a period of time. There, you need a lot of depth in spin bowling,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.

“But MI do not have that depth in their spin bowling. Neither do they have the quality nor the quantity of spin bowling required in these conditions,” he added.
Mumbai Indians’ youngsters have a great opportunity to shine in IPL 2020: Aakash Chopra
Chopra stated that the Mumbai youngsters like Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Rahul Chahar have a great occasion to shine. The 3 have a great chance to prove their mettle to make it to Team India, believes Aakash Chopra.
“Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Rahul Chahar have a great opportunity to shine this IPL season. Surya is very close to playing for India. Ishan Kishan has also been a consistent performer of late and a good IPL can bring him in the reckoning for the Indian team,” Chopra said.

“If Rahul Chahar has a brilliant IPL 2020, then it would be two consecutive IPL seasons that were good for him. He has got an India cap already but he will be able to be associated with the Indian team for long only when he has a good IPL 2020,”
MI will face CSK in the opener on the 19th of September. The last time these two faced each other was in the IPL 2019 final which MI won by a single run.
The Indian Premier League will be played in UAE amid the Coronavirus pandemic, from September 19 to November 10, amid COVID-19 protocols laid down by the ICC and BCCI.
