Monday’s IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore has been rescheduled after two members of the KKR contingent tested positive for COVID-19. The clash was scheduled to be played on May 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Varun Chakravarthy May Have Contracted Virus After He Went To Hospital For Scan

RCB players were supposed to wear a specially-made blue jersey for this match to honour the frontline workers fighting day and night against the Covid-19 pandemic in India. But they will have to delay their plans it seems after this latest development. RCB had defeated KKR by 38 runs the first time they met this season in Chennai last month.

In the meantime, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo, Varun Chakravarthy went out of the bio-bubble to get his shoulder scans done in a hospital. It is being speculated that he might have picked the virus from there. However, there is no confirmation from the BCCI regarding the same.

Ahead of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel, KKR’s Nitish Rana and RCB’s Devdutt Padikkal had tested positive for the virus. However, the trio has recovered well and are currently fulfiling their duties for their respective franchises.
