When Kohli was batting on 208 runs, he gave a chance at slip to the South African captain Faf du Plessis. The visiting captain grabbed that catch very well but it was denied due to the front-foot no-ball by the left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy.

Virat Kohli later reached to 254 runs off 336 balls (33 fours and 2 sixes) before declaring India’s first innings on 601/5.

After this innings, Virat Kohli has scored 7,054 runs in 138 Test innings with an average of 55.10. It is the best batting average by an Indian batsman who batted minimum 25 innings. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar is in the second position in this list. While Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 329 Test innings (200 Test matches), his Test batting average was 53.78.
