Pakistan is one of the few teams, who is yet to play a single game after the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019. They have changed the coaching staff and named their best person in the ranks Misbah-ul-Haq to take Pakistan cricket forward. Speaking of the same, the skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is confident of putting on a good show with the new changes in the team.

Pakistan’s first challenge will be a tour to Australia in November where they play two Tests followed by home Test series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Currently, they are placed 7th among 12 Test teams in the ICC World Rankings.

Speaking of the same, Sarfaraz Ahmed admitted that the team hasn’t been that convincing in the longer version of the game. He believes that the exclusion of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis khan has made things tough for Pakistan, as the team has fallen in the building phase.

Now, with the youngsters rising their mark in the International Cricket, Sarfaraz Ahmed believes that they can do the job for Pakistan in Test cricket as well. He feels that the likes of Sah Masood, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq will make things fall in place alongside the experienced lads like Azhar Ali and Asad.

“After in-and-out performances in the last two years since the retirements of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, I think we are now ready to challenge other teams in the World Test Championship. We have struggled after losing Misbah and Younis and we are in a rebuilding process. But now I think our batsmen are ready to fill the gaps and take responsibility,” he said.

“We have Shaan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail and Babar Azam who have now gone through the grind. And also, they can do well at the Test level. There is also a lot of experience now behind Azhar and Asad.”

As Sarfaraz Ahmed said, the Pakistan batting lineup has become solid with a decent mix of youngsters and the experienced batsmen. However, with Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz staying away from the longer version of the game, Pakistan needs to develop a strong bowling lineup.
