India put a big total of 310/5 in 43 overs. In reply, West Indies only managed 205/6 at the end of 43 overs.

India won this match by 105 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.

  1. Indian opening batsman Ajinkya Rahane hit a brilliant century in this match, as he scored 103 runs before getting dismissed. It is the second ODI century by an Indian opening batsman against West Indies on the Caribbean soil. Rahul Dravid was the first Indian opening batsman who had achieved this feat, as he had scored 105 runs at Kingston on 18th May 2006.

In overall, it is the fourth ODI century by an Indian batsman against West Indies on the Caribbean soil.

 

  1. Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored 63 runs before getting stumped out. Dhawan is the first Indian opening batsman to be involved in stumped dismissal against West Indies on the Caribbean soil.

On the other hand, Dhawan is the third overall Indian batsman to involve in stumped dismissal against West Indies on the Caribbean soil.

 

  1. Three Indian batsmen scored 50+ runs in India’s innings (Ajinkya Rahane 103, Shikhar Dhawan 63 and Virat Kohli 87). It is the second time when more than two Indian batsmen scored 50+ runs in the same ODI innings on the Caribbean soil.

Before this, four Indian batsmen had scored 50+ runs against Bermuda at Port of Spain on 19th March 2007.

 

  1. India scored 310/7 in 43 overs. It is the third highest ODI total for India against West Indies on the Caribbean soil. The top two in this list are 339/6 (50 overs) at Kingston on 26th June 2009 and 311/7 (50 overs) at Port of Spain on 5th July 2013.

Also, it (310/7) is the second highest ODI total for any team at the Queen’s Park Oval (Port of Spain). The highest ODI total for any team at this venue is 311/7 (50 overs) by India against West Indies on 5th July 2013.

 

  1. Two out of first 3 West Indian batsmen (Kieran Powell and Jason Mohammed) were dismissed for the duck. It is the second time when two out of first three West Indian batsmen scored the duck in an ODI match against India. The previous such incident happened at Toronto on 14th September 1999.

 

  1. Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni made two stumpings during West Indies innings. It is the second time when an Indian wicketkeeper made two stumping dismissals against West Indies in an ODI match on the Caribbean soil. Parthiv Patel was the first Indian wicketkeeper who had achieved that (at Port of Spain on 8th June 2011).

 

  1. India won this match by 105 runs. It is the largest ODI victory (by runs) for India against West Indies on the Caribbean soil. Their previous record was winning by 102 runs at Port of Spain on 5th July 2013.
