Premier League game week 33: Team of the week

The Premier League this weekend once again produced some sizzling moments on and off the field. It all started with Andy Carroll’s hat-trick against the Gunners and there were plenty of other superb performances that mean a lot this close to the end of the season.

There have been a number of goo performers this weekend at every place and it was not easy to decide the best XI but here is the Team of the Week for the 33rd Round of Premier League fixtures:

Goal-Keeper:

Heurelho Gomes (Watford City):

He gave his side an important point against Everton as he made a number of brilliant saves in the second half to keep the Toffees away from a victory.

Defense:

Joel Ward (Crystal Palace):

Gave the assist for Puncheon’s goal in Palace’s 1-0 victory against Norwich City. Was also sound defensive as he helped his team keep a clean sheet.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur):

Stood tall and strong all night to keep a well deserved clean sheet against United and also got his name on the score sheet with a thumping header at the other end in an impressive performance from the Belgian.

Steve Cook (AFC Bournemouth):

Did exceptionally well against Aston Villa on the night and opened the scoring with a sublime flick at the other end.

Alberto Moreno (Liverpool):

For all the criticism the young Spaniard has taken over the months, he was superb against Stoke City on the night where he opened the scoring with a sublime strike and also helped his team to keep the Potters away from the goal.

Midfield:

Victor Wanyama (Southampton):

Picked up a goal in the Saints’ 3-1 victory over the Magpies and was also solid in the midfield where he never allowed the Newcastle attackers to play down the middle of the park.

Eric Lamela (Tottenham Hotspur):

Missed a sitter in the first half but made up for it by initiating the first goal, assisting the second and scoring the third in Tottenham’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the White Hart Lane.

Alex Iwobi (Arsenal):

Should have got himself on the scoresheet when he missed an easy chance but made up for it by setting up Sanchez and Ozil as he picked up two assists in an impressive game for the youngster.

Attack:

Divock Origi (Liverpool):

Came into the game early in the second half and just blew Stoke City away with a brace in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory at Anfield on Sunday.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City):

Bagged a brace against Sunderland in the 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light on his way to becoming the first player since Gary Lineker to score 20- top-flight goals in a Premier League season.

Andy Carroll (West Ham United):

The big striker bagged a hat-trick on the night against Arsenal in the 3-3 draw at the Upton Park. He was simply unplayable on the night and helped the Hammers take a point from this game.
