Liverpool take on Brighton in their first fixture post the international break. The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp will be relieved to see that the international break has caused no further injuries in his already marred team. The German has been missing over half of his first-team players due to long term injuries, and is still without some for this Brighton clash.

Naby Keita, Calvin Ramsay, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson are confirmed absentees for Liverpool, whereas Ibrahima Konate is a doubt. Klopp has very limited options to choose from against the Seagulls as Liverpool hope to pick only their third win this season in the Premier League. They are currently languishing in the 8th place, 8 points behind rivals Manchester City and 9 behind leaders Arsenal.

Brighton underwent a huge change at the club, as manager Graham Potter left for Chelsea to replace former Blues’ Thomas Tuchel. The Seagulls have roped in Shakhtar Donetsk manager Roberto De Zerbi on a bumper four-year contract to lead them into their post-Potter era. De Zerbi is certainly an interesting manager who enjoyed great spells with Donetsk as well as his former team Sassuolo.

However, his first game in charge is against Liverpool at Anfield. A very difficult test, but given the form of the Reds, De Zerbi will be motivated to push his team to achieve a positive result. Liverpool’s two victories may have come at home, but they were also held to a frustrating draw at Anfield by Crystal palace earlier this season. Brighton will take some inspiration from the Eagles’ display to earn at least a point against the Merseyside side club.
