Netherlands spinner Aryan Dutt opened up on his aspiration to dismiss Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli in the ongoing ODI World Cup in India. The Dutch team faces India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on November 12, where he would get the opportunity to bowl to the former Indian skipper.

Aryan Dutt has been very effective in the marquee event, taking eight wickets at an economy rate of 4.96 in six games. When batters attempt to take advantage of the fielding limitations, the off-spinner has also performed admirably in the powerplay to pick up crucial wickets in the game.

Speaking at an event, Aryan Dutt claimed that getting rid of Kohli in the crucial match would be his greatest World Cup wicket. He also mentioned that he wanted to bowl regularly with a good length and line in the game.

“All wickets are important for me, but I would love to dismiss Kohli. I consider that wicket as the best gift in this World Cup,” Aryan Dutt said.

“I believe in my strengths and don’t worry much about the batters facing me. My focus is on consistently hitting the right lengths and using my speed and turn to outfox the batsmen,” Aryan Dutt added.

The Dutch team has astonished both experts and fans with their perseverance. The Netherlands, who is now in eighth place with two victories in six games, will need to win their final three games to throw a surprise in the marquee event.

In 31 ODIs since making his international debut in 2021, Aryan Dutt has claimed 28 wickets. In Lucknow and has recorded his best stats of 3/44 versus Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli has been in incredible form in the World Cup thus far, where he has amassed 354 runs at an average of 88.50 in six games. The 34-year-old has been a standout performer for the Men in Blue in the marquee event and can potentially surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI century record in the mega event.

The Indian batting maestro is just one ODI century away from equalling legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI hundreds. Kohli now has 78th century overall in international cricket across all formats and he would look to continue his fine form going forward.
