Premier League legend Robin Van Persie has expressed his views about Manchester United’s star signing Tyrell Malacia. The left-back joined the Red Devils from Robin Van Persie’s boyhood club Feyenoord on a four-year deal with an option for a further year. Manchester United reportedly paid around 13 million to secure the service of the player deemed as a big talent.

Malacia impressed in his 50 appearances for Feyenoord last season providing four assists and a goal in the Eredivisie. He also starred for the Netherlands in the Nations League and is a prime candidate to make it to the World Cup in Qatar this year. The 22-year-old was a transfer target of many top clubs in Europe.

New boss Erik Ten Haag recognized his talent letting Man United swoop in at the right time ahead of French side Lyon to secure his signature. The arrival of Malacia will certainly help the Old Trafford club to strengthen up the left-back position with neither Alex Telles nor Luke Shaw leaving up to standards.

Luke Shaw failed to replicate his form of the previous season into the 2021/22 campaign struggling with multiple injuries. The same goes for Alex Telles. The Brazilian was brought in to shift the weight from his teammate in the left-back position but Manchester United now are desperate to get him off the books in this transfer window.

Robin Van Persie has his say on Manchester United’s new left-back Tyrell Malacia

Now, former Manchester United player Van Persie who is also the assistant coach of Feyenoord spoke about Malacia being a good fit for United. He congratulated him on the move to England on his Twitter account praising his hard work on the pitch.

Congrats on this fantastic move (Tyrell Malacia)! 100% deserved, hard work pays off! To all (Manchester United) fans, I’m sure you’ll enjoy watching Tyrell represent this great club. A huge talent with great fighting spirit – I’m certain he’ll be a good fit.”

Fans will be excited to know about this verdict of the player. Considering Malacia also looks up to another Manchester United legend Patrice Evra, he could quickly turn out to be a favourite just like Robin Van Persie became by winning the Premier League in his first season with the club.

The signing of Tyrell Malacia is a statement of intent from Manchester United to rebuild their squad to refigure themselves again following a forgetful season. According to sources, the club has also made a principal agreement with Christian Eriksen for a potential move and is linked to FC Barcelona’s midfielder, Frenkie De Jong this summer.
