Indian 10m pistol shooter Heena Sidhu again claims a gold medal at 7th Asian Air Gun Championship held at Kuwait. After Pooja Ghatkar’s gold in Rifle event, this is India’s second gold medal in the Championship.Shweta Chaudhry of India scored378 at the qualification round and 131.8 at the finals and grabbed the 5thposition.
Heena topped the qualification round with 386 (94, 97, 97, and 98 in four rounds). In finals, Heena shot 200.3 and made it to the top. Chia Ying Wu of China had to get satisfied with silver as it was a very close match and Heena earned two points ahead of Wu.
In women’s team event comprising of Heena Sidhu (386), Shweta Chaudhry (378) and Harveen Sarao (374) tied with China for the Gold medal but lost the tie as they were just one inner ten short of China and grabbed silver, otherwise it could be a double gold for Heena.
In the men’s individual section, Chain Singh of India also clinched a gold medal and there is a bronze for men’s team event. The youth and Junior events are featured in the next two days which will play role for Youth Olympics quota places.
