Deonna Purrazzo is a top superstar from the current Impact Wrestling roster and she’s been included in the conversations of Royal Rumble 2022. This comes after the reigning Impact Knockouts Champion has been announced for an appearance in the upcoming 30-woman Rumble match in late January. In an announcement on Smackdown, Mickie James was confirmed to make her return to the WWE at The Rumble.
At the recent Impact Hard to Kill PPV event, Mickie James defeated Deonna Purrazzo in a Texas Death Match to retain her title. Despite the loss, a fan expressed her concern about the former champion possibly appearing at Royal Rumble 2022 since the forbidden door has reportedly been conquered.

However, the 2020 Impact star of the year seemingly has no interest in crossing over to the WWE, even if it happens for one night only. Over on Twitter, a fan suggested that Deonna Purrazzo should enter the upcoming Women’s Royal Rumble 2022 Match as a surprise entrant. The Virtuosa has simply responded to the suggestion by commenting, “Nah.”

Deonna Purrazzo was never happy in the WWE
The popular belief is that WWE has reached a deal with IMPACT Wrestling which is why Mickie James is appearing at a WWE PPV while being a Champion in IMPACT Wrestling. Even Smackdown announcer Pat McAfee was allowed to mention IMPACT and its championship on Commentary for the same reason. But Deonna Purrazzo doesn’t want it to be a part of the star-studded field.
Deonna Purrazzo was released from WWE on April 15 as part of the company’s mass layoff of talent in 2021. She began working for the company full time in 2018, signing with WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, and participating in the second Mae Young Classic tournament. She was knocked out in the quarterfinals, losing to Io Shirai who was rarely used on NXT and RAW until her release.
In a recent appearance On the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, Deonna Purrazzo explained how she got lost in the shuffle during her WWE run,
“I was signed with you know, Keith Lee and Io Shirai and there was a ton of people in my class. And there just came a point where okay, people also just aren’t being called up. So people are staying in NXT for three years, four years, five years, and at no point are new spots opening up. So there was someone like me, who, and I think people thought I deserved to be the champion or whatever, and I never thought that, I just thought I deserve to be something in some capacity.”
