England‘s white-ball captain Eoin Morgan has been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against West Indies in Barbados with a low-grade quadriceps injury.
He also missed the third T20I after feeling pain in his right quad during warm-ups right before the game. Moeen Ali led the side in his absence as the visitors faced a 20-run defeat on Wednesday.

Eoin Morgan also missed the third T20I
“Morgan sat out the third T20 in Barbados on Wednesday night after he felt pain in his right quad during the warm-up. Follow-up testing revealed he sustained a right thigh-muscle injury which, whilst relatively minor, will prevent him from playing further games during the current tour,” ECB released a statement.
Morgan’s form hasn’t been great of late. He hasn’t scored a T20I fifty since August 2020. In the first match, he scored a struggling 29-ball 17 when England bowled out for 103. It was pretty much the same in the second innings as he scored only 13 runs when the visitors leveled the series with a one-run win in the second match.
However, his absence as captain was evident in the third match as England struggled a lot on the field as they conceded a mammoth total of 224/5. Rovman Powell scored a 51-ball hundred and Nicholas Pooran played a blinder of knock of 43-ball 70. For England, the stand-in skipper, who bowled a match-winning spell of 3/24, bowled just one over, and barring Adil Rashid, none of England bowlers could stop the flow of runs.

England came here with almost a second-string side as none of the members in the Ashes series (barring Sam Billings) has been part of this series. This is the last white-ball series for England in this season though they have a packed schedule in their home season.
England will travel to the Netherlands for 3-match ODI series in June. In this series again England is likely to travel with a second-string side as the series is scheduled during a test series between England and New Zealand. Then later in the home season, England will host India and South Africa as well.
