Last night’s SmackDown Live was full of surprises with an NXT invasion planned on the show. Most of the main roster superstars of the blue brand failed to reach the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York due to flight delaying issues.

Hence WWE came up with a backup plan to insert the NXT stars on the show and start hype-up the Survivor Series PPV event for 2019. In case you don’t know, this is the first time that the NXT brand will challenge Raw and SmackDown superstars in the event set for November 24th.

With that being said, the main event of last night’s SmackDown featured a dream match for the WWE Universe. It was a resident member of the blue brand competing against the current NXT Champion for the title.

Daniel Bryan challenged Adam Cole in a never-before-seen matchup that earned appreciation from the crowd. This is how the match came about on SmackDown, (courtesy WWE.com)

“Earlier in the evening, Daniel Bryan made it clear he had seen enough of NXT’s surprises, finding Triple H and WWE Hall of Famer and NXT Trainer Shawn Michaels backstage and demanding answers — and a fight. While the mastermind of NXT was not long for competition on this night, he introduced Bryan to someone who was — NXT Champion Adam Cole. Bryan accepted on the condition that Cole put his title on the line, and with that, the WWE Universe was treated to an instant classic.”

The match turned out to be a fiery back-and-forth contest between Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole. It had Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Stephanie McMahon cheering up the NXT champ from ringside.

Bryan almost had the win by applying the LeBell Lock on Cole who somehow got rid of it. Cole then connected with a huge superkick on Bryan’s face. The Panama Sunrise and the Last Shot followed next from Cole to earn him perhaps the biggest win of his WWE career on SmackDown.

Once the match was over, Triple H took the mic and sent a warning to the main roster superstars. As the head of the NXT, he allowed the black and yellow brand members to fire the first show on SmackDown members. Could there be a fire back on Raw, next week? We’ll have to wait until next Monday night to find out so.
