Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly asserted that one should not draw any comparison between IPL and BPL. The former KKR captain said that IPL has come a long way since its inception in 2008–and it is the second-best league in the world, IPL is way ahead in terms of the quality of cricket and the financial strengths of BPL.

According to BDcrictime, Sourav Ganguly said the Indian premier league is a different brand–and the money involved in IPL is at a different level altogether, he doesn’t want to compare both leagues.

“See, IPL is a different brand. The player availability in the IPL and its financial condition has gone to a different level altogether. It’s the second-best sports league in the world. I don’t want to draw comparisons between the BPL and the IPL. The BPL is also a good league,”  Ganguly said.

Ganguly also lauded BPL as a good league–and he has given his suggestions to improve BPL–and is impressed by the passion of Bangladesh fans for cricket and wants Bangladesh cricket to grow.

“I have talked to Papon bhai regarding how to improve the BPL. There is so much passion in the people of Bangladesh and it’s a blessing that stands to remain filled. I will always pray for Bangladesh cricket to grow, there is a system in Bangladesh. Their cricket has grown over the last 20 years. They have defeated a team like India, twice at home, something which didn’t happen earlier.”

Ganguly reckoned that Bangladesh cricket has grown for the last 20 years–and Bangladesh has pulled a few upsets against top-ranked sides. Bangladesh also had a chance of making the knockouts of the 2022 T20 world cup but eventually fell out of favour.
