Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will kick off on 31st March, the opening match is scheduled between defending champions Gujarat Giants and CSK. In the inaugural season in 2008, Pakistani players featured in IPL, but after the first season, they were not allowed to feature in the league.
Former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal, who was part of Rajasthan Royals in the opening season, has accepted that other T20 leagues like BBL are nothing in front of IPL, and players are paid higher amounts in India’s T20 league.
Akmal supported the Indian board for not allowing players to play in another league-
“Indian players should not play in the PSL,” he replied when asked should Indian players play in PSL.
“The Indian board is doing the right thing by not allowing their players to play in overseas T20 leagues. They are aware that the IPL goes on for two months, and then there is a lot of international cricket as well. The players are so strong financially that there is no need for them to go and play in other leagues,” said Akmal.
PSL 2023 has been kicked off on 13th Ferburary, it will be the 8th edition of Pakistan’s T20 league. Lahore Qalandars are the defending champions. Six teams will be featured in the league to win the trophy on 19th March, a total of 34 matches will be played in the completion.

“Our board can also learn from it as it can prolong the careers of players. They have 14 to 15 players who have played over a hundred Test matches, while we have just two or three such players. India value their cricket and their players. The IPL pays players a lot,” added former Pakistani wicketkeeper.
“The BBL is nothing in front of the IPL. No league in the world can match the IPL,” Kamran, who recently retired from all forms of international cricket, added,” he concluded.
The 41-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on February 2023, while in future, he might be working as a cricket administrator or a coach. Kamran made his debut for the Pakistan cricket team in 2002. The right-handed batter played 53 test matches, 157 ODI and 58 T20I for his national side throughout his career.
