A packed edition of SmackDown was in store, last night where we saw Roman Reigns in action on two occasions. A huge tag team match was also in-store from the tag division. Plus, some of the members of the SmackDown women’s roster competed in a six-pack challenge. The winner came out to be a new challenger for the existing champion, Bayley.
Big announcements made for next SmackDown
As per the mentioned details by WWE.com, the six-pack challenge went by on SmackDown,
“The depth of the SmackDown Women’s division will be on full display in a loaded Six-Pack Challenge Match. Carmella, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose all square off for the opportunity to face Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title.
Carmella enters with the experience of a former champion, but all of the competitors are hungry to make a big impression on the blue brand. Who will emerge to challenge the reinvented Bayley, and is the winner destined for a similar fate as the Bayley Buddies?”
Mandy Rose was in control for the most part of the match alongside his tag partner Sonya Deville as it helped the duo to overpower the other competitors. Carmella showed incredible athleticism to floor them down with superkicks and suicidal dives. She was able to lock in the Code of Silence Submission Maneuver on Mandy. But Sonya ran into the ring to break the hold and save the match.
Lacey Evans entered the ring to drop Sonya with a Women’s Right only to eat a Superkick from Mella. Nikki Cross then came out of nowhere and hit the Spinning Neckbreaker on Sonya to pick up the sudden win. She has now earned an opportunity to challenge for the SmackDown women’s championship, shortly.
It appeared to be a popular decision pulled by the WWE creative team as fans like Nikki Cross to see in her babyface avatar. This is for the first time that she is entering the singles title picture in the female division without her buddy Alexa Bliss, backing her up. But she may eventually need the help of The Goddess in due course before going up against the newly turned heel Bayley.
