Randy Orton would stop at nothing while unleashing his Legend Killer moniker on WWE Raw superstars. He is angry as hell after coming up short at the hands of Drew McIntyre at Summerslam. So he took out frustrations on the WWE Champion in a vicious way that might have handed a serious injury to him.
As seen on WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre kicked off the night mentioning how he defeated Randy Orton at Summerslam. But he wasn’t happy about the soft win and hence issued a challenge for a rematch. The Viper responded with a brutal ambush on the ramp that ended with a big kick to the skull.
Randy Orton Injures Drew McIntyre On WWE Raw; Receives Payback Match
Later, it was noted that the former NXT Champion Keith Lee is set to make his WWE main roster pay-per-view debut as a member of the RAW brand at WWE Payback. It was announced that Lee will face Randy Orton in a singles match on Sunday.
Randy Orton vs. Lee took place on last night’s RAW but the match ended when WWE Champion Drew McIntyre attacked Orton for payback. Orton escaped but later came back for another attack on the Scottish Psychopath. This time, he delivered yet another kick to his skull that might have caused a career-ending injury to the reigning champion.
Here’s more from WWE.com,
“As reported by Charly Caruso on Raw, medical staff were fearful of a skull fracture and potential brain bleeding to Drew McIntyre after Randy Orton delivered three vicious kicks to the skull to the WWE Champion earlier in the night. The medical officials did also express concern the injuries could potentially be career-threatening.
McIntyre was eventually loaded into an ambulance and transported to a local medical facility for further testing.”
It’s a kayfabe injury picked up by Drew McIntyre on WWE Raw while Keith Lee would be seen fighting on his behalf against Randy Orton. The Apex Predator isn’t backing down from his pledge to get back the WWE Title and perhaps the rematch will be coming at September’s Clash of Champions PPV after McIntyre returns.
It should be noted that Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Summerslam 2020 via clean pinfall where the challenger was a clear favorite to come up as the winner.
