Real Madrid are looking to open up contract negotiations with AC Milan ace Franck Kessie this month. AC Milan midfielder has just six months remaining on his contract at San Siro and the player has no intention to extend his contract. English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are chasing the former Atalanta midfielder since the last summer and are favourites to win the race for his signature.
The 25-year-old Ivorian international has been a key figure for Rossoneri since his arrival from Atalanta BC in 2017. AC Milan finished last season in 2nd position in the Serie A and occupies the same spot this season with a point behind leaders Inter Milan. Kessie has played a huge role in Milan’s recent resurgence to become one of the biggest Italian clubs once again.
Kessie scored whopping 13 league goals last season with 4 assists and continues that form this year with 5 league goals already. AC Milan are trying hard to keep their star player at San Siro with a much better contract.
If Kessie leaves in the summer on a free transfer then it will be a big backslash for the Rossoneri management Stefano Pioli and Paolo Maldini. Milan recently lost two of their biggest stars on free transfers, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu, so losing another key player in his prime will make a big statement about them.
Real Madrid To Steal Franck Kessie From Tottenham Hotspur’s Grasp?
La Liga giants Real Madrid have entered the race for the signature on Franck Kessi on a pre-agreement contract deal this month. According to El Nacional, club president Fiorentino Perez is looking to fast-track the Franck Kessie deal to beat rivals. Los Blancos have Luka Modric’s contract expiring this summer and Toni Kroos’ contract set to expire next summer. Signing a new central midfielder who can contribute to both defence and attack is high on the agenda for manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are also ready to offer a mega-contract to Kessie and have shown genuine interest this month. But regular Champions League football at North London is hard to come by which will play a big part to convince Kessie. Newly-appointed manager Antonio Conte has improved the Spurs this season and they are in contention to finish this season in the top-four position. This put the Spurs in driving seat for Kessie’s signature according to the same report.
Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal also keeping an eye on Kessie’s situation but no official contact has been made yet. AC Milan are also planning to update their previous £5.4 million per year offer with a better contract offer.
