Review & Twitter Reactions From This Week’s WWE Raw: January 7, 2019

WWE Raw opened with a lot of actions in the opening sequence. Perhaps the show-writers were hell-bent to give us something exceptional and chaotic to begin 2019. The opener was indeed fun as the audience loves to see chaos. Set Rollins and Bobby Lashley provide that, first after which four more names got added to it. This overshadowed the returning segment of John Cena which happened at the same time.

It is always good to see the Cenation Leader back to his show. But it was indeed a surprise to see him entering the Royal Rumble match. His movie schedule was not going to let him appear on the WWE programming, later in January. But somehow he managed to make a way to the battle royal. The opening six-man tag team match was a fun contest, too. The announcement of a Falls Count Anywhere match in the main event made this even more impactful.

WWE might have been concerned with the return of Hulk Hogan on WWE Raw. There were doubts whether fans would welcome him with open arms. But the Orlando crowd broke into thunderous ‘Hogan’ chants hinting that they have forgiven the Immortal One. Even the legend himself did a tremendous job while paying tribute to his best partner, Mean Gene Okerlund. WWE and Hogan did a terrific job to honor the greatest announcer of all-time.

Elias is always fun to watch on WWE Raw with his songs. But Corbin is extremely boring, especially in long matches. This might be the one reason why the officials can’t give him the big break. Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman could go into a physical confrontation considering the injury of the challenger. This made the Royal Rumble hyping segment lame and a random one on the show.

Making Sasha Banks the number one contender for WWE Raw women’s title is a good decision since it will create a fresh matchup at Royal Rumble. One of the dangerous spots during this match was Sasha almost breaking her neck with a Hurricurana. Officials should stop her from doing such moves, immediately.

The final match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins felt random, once again due to the outcome. We knew that Lashley would interfere just to continue the feud with Rollins. WWE could not think else just to put a sudden end to the Falls Count Anywhere match. This was not a good end to the show which turned out to be an average. The kick-off hinted great arrangement which fell short to great extent.

WWE Raw still needs big-time improvement on the card to make things improved in 2019. Meanwhile here are the Twitter reactions for this week’s show,
