The singles contest between these two has never happened which is why the plan seemed suitable. But recent talks suggested that return plans with Ronda Rousey have fallen apart. She is no more locked in to make his presence felt at the Royal Rumble match as noted below by wwfoldschool.com,

Now, Ronda Rousey seemed to get replaced by former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. She is now scheduled to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match next year and then head on to challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36. The seeds of the match were already planted back at Survivor Series PPV.
