Tottenham Hotspur are looking to swap Giovani Lo Celso for Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski this month. Newly-appointed manager Antonio Conte is a big admirer of Swedish international stars and willing to use Lo Celso in an ‘equal exchange deal’. A different report from the Italian media also suggests that Tottenham have offered Japhet Tanganga as well in a different deal for Kulusevski.
It is clear that both the club and manager are looking to sign the 21-year-old Kulusevski who is available for €35 million. But the Spurs are not in a condition to pay that kind of money in the winter window so they are trying to offer their fringe players to negotiate with Italian giants. According to a report from Calciomercato, the Spurs have made their ‘first failed attempt’ and now looking to explore their options further.
Managing director Fabio Paratici, who has an excellent connection with Conte, is a former Juve Chief who is handling Kulusevski’s negotiations. He can pursuit Old Lady officials to negotiate a swap deal but it depends on whether Massimiliano Allegri wants Lo Celso at Turin or not. Juventus are open to selling the Swedish star this month, who has failed to gain regular football at Allianz Stadium. Kulusevski has made 17 league appearances this season, mostly from the bench, and has failed to score any goal so far.
Tottenham Hotspur Looking At Other Options After A Failed Kulusevski Bid:
North London giants are working on another improved bid including Kulusevski and Lo Celso swap but also involve other transfer activities. Another Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is also on the shopping list for Antonio Conte and they had their first bid rejected already.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham have offered up Tanguy Ndombele for a swap deal for McKennie but Juventus were quick to reject this deal. Ndombele arrived at North London for a club-record fee of £50 million in 2019 and failed to perform in the Premier League. He is currently earning £200, 000 per week and that has been the real reason for Juventus to reject the Ndombele-McKennie swap deal.
Tottenham Hotspur recently failed to sign Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho who joined Aston Villa on loan. The Spurs are also strongly linked with Wolves winger Adama Traore and working on another swap deal including Matt Doherty. Spurs are in good form lately with the top-four race is on in the English Premier League. Finishing in the top four will be beneficial to attract potential targets in the summer window. So signing any one of Traore, Kulusevski, or McKennie will be crucial for Conte to finish this season in top-four.
