Smackdown Live came up with a few upsets at the MITB PPV event. Raw took away both the briefcases from their grasp. These might have affected the brand a little bit. Things might remain quiet this week too as we will not have two champions present on the show. Both the WWE and Smackdown Women’s Champions are abroad for promotional activities. So they can’t attend this week’s episode.
We will see how the show manages to keep things fair in their absence. The rivalries for the Extreme Rules PPV event are the prime focus of the show for now. Other championships picture needs to build up apart from the prime title present. Plus, the GM has made a packed main event official on the show. Tonight’s episode of Smackdown will take place at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California.
Rusev has become the new number one contender for the WWE Championship. It was a much-needed change. The Styles-Nakamura feud had been going on for months now. A fan favorite name like Rusev should have received the opportunity much earlier.
Last week, the show ended as we have seen Rusev and Aiden English playing mind-games with Styles. Tonight the champion will not be there to encounter these. So this is a golden opportunity for him to build some momentums en route to his title match.
The Bludgeon Brothers attacked Daniel Bryan on Smackdown Live. It looks like the latter one will move onto a bizarre two-on-one feud following this ambush. We are not quite sure exactly what is in-store for the former GM in this rivalry. It is likely that someone from the babyfaces will join Bryan to set up a tag team. This would help to set up a tag team action at the Extreme Rules PPV.
The Smackdown women’s champion will also not be present on the show. We have barely had any update on her next title defense too. She had a successful title defense against Asuka at MITB. But these two continued to have confrontations on the show. This hints that the officials might announce a rematch for the next PPV event.
Another fresh feud should kick-off on Smackdown over the United States title. Jeff Hardy and Shinsuke Nakamura had some strong words for one another during backstage interviews.
