WWE News: Big Plans Around Bludgeon Brothers Changed On Smackdown Due To Injury
Oct 11, 2018 at 3:18 PM
Smackdown received a new tag team champion team on the post-Summerslam edition. The New Day challenged the Bludgeon Brothers at Summerslam for those titles. The two monstrous heels were not able to match up with the quick-fire moves of The New Day. So they intentionally got disqualified by attacking their opponents with The Mallet.
This set up another rematch between Bludgeon Brothers and The New Day on Smackdown. The most popular tag team in the entire WWE has finally been able to pin the heels to gain the titles. Well, this outcome was unthinkable until a rumor broke out regarding one half of the Bludgeon Brothers. One of them was dealing with an injury sustained at Summerslam.

PWInsider.com was the source to break the news out for the first time. Rowan of the Bludgeon Brothers picked up a bicep injury at the biggest event of the summer. He was able to compete for one last time on the mentioned edition after Summerslam. But the injury got worse and he had to undergo a surgery, afterward.
WWE.com later gave updates on his situation. Rowan had to go under the knives at Birmingham, Alabama to fix the tear. Now the monster heel will have to be out of action for more than six months, perhaps. This has nixed out the potential plans around The Bludgeon Brothers on Smackdown.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com gave an update stating that the former champions were about to have a lengthy title reign. In fact, the officials had some big planning around him following Summerslam. But the injury pulled an abrupt end to those and The New Day became the new champion.
However, the source was unable to reveal the exact planning around the Bludgeon Brothers,
“They were not supposed to switch the tag belts this week. I was told that there was a larger role planned for The Bludgeon Brothers coming out of the pay-per-view. I don’t know what it was but the injury is why they did the tag title switch.” (courtesy WrestlingNews)
The Bludgeon Brothers have been the strongest Smackdown tag team champions to date. They were unstoppable since winning the championships at Wrestlemania. Even Team Hell No fell victim to them at Extreme Rules. It was a severe indication for them to get some big push on the roster. But the sudden injury ruined all of these.
