WWE Rumor: Officials Do Not Intend To Use Daniel Bryan In Title Picture

Daniel Bryan has come out of retirement at Wrestlemania 34 overcoming a neck concussion. He confirmed it many times that his goal is to win back the WWE Championship. But it looks like even after waiting for a long time he has reached nowhere near to hold the prestigious title. In fact, reports suggest there are no big planning around him on Smackdown, for now.

AJ Styles has been the WWE Champion on Smackdown even prior to last year’s Survivor Series PPV. Currently, he has surpassed the 360-day landmark and approaching towards breaking CM Punk’s record of 434-day reign. It looks like WWE will make it happen with ‘the face that runs this place’. Even the great Daniel Bryan failed to put an end to it.

The original WWE Championship match for Crown Jewel was about to feature Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles. But the contender decided not to go to Saudi Arabia. So the match did not happen as per schedule. Officials preponed it on the 30th October edition of Smackdown. The dream match happened where AJ Styles picked up a clean win to retain the WWE Championship.

Now, Wrestling Observer has reported that there are no further big plans available for Daniel Bryan. He might have to spend the rest of 2018 in a quiet way, perhaps in a mid-card slot. This is definitely not a good news for the members of the YES nation. They expected much better planning around the leader of the YES movement which never came to fruition.

AJ Styles forced Daniel Bryan to tap out of the Calf Crusher submission move on Smackdown. Apparently, this was a clear indication that the former world champion was going out of the championship picture for a long time. But it was not a punishment for him after he decided not to go to Saudi Arabia. It was the original match finish of Crown Jewel.

Retaining the same finish on Smackdown do indicate that he is not suffering from a backstage heat. In fact, Daniel Bryan was not ready to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship. He wanted to lose the match against The Miz at Super Show Down. Perhaps, he knew he was not going to enter a long-term WWE Championship picture.

Previous reports from The Dirty Sheets gave updates that WWE officials were planning on doing AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2019. It also suggested that the latter one was about to win the title from the Phenomenal One. But the current plans hint that officials have already scrapped the earlier plans reserved.
