“He has been amazing. As a player or as a role model, he has been terrific. He is one of them who has changed the game for his country. His whole nation is proud of him. It’s good luck for him for this upcoming T20 World Cup. And I hope that he play really well. And team India should perform for him because as a captain this will be his last series in T20s.”

Younis Khan also drew a likewise analogy to his time at the helm of affairs with the Pakistani team which he led to T20 WC glory in 2009, and hoped that Virat Kohli should finish his captaincy on a high note just as he did.

“I hope him and his nation perform well. And he should also leave his captaincy on a high note, just as I left it in 2009 with a World Cup victory,” he said.

India has a 12-0 win-loss record in World Cups against Pakistan in World Cups-T20I, ODI. The two teams had met at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for the first time in the group stages in 2007 when India won in a bowl-out. India won the 2007 T20I World Cup by beating Pakistan in the final, while Pakistan won the next T20I World Cup in 2009.

Younis Khan Not In Favour Of Comparing Babar Azam And Younis Khan

This is also the first time Virat Kohli and Babar Azam will take on each other in an international match as captains. While Virat Kohli has already announced the 2021 edition of T20I WC is his last tournament as a T20I captain, Babar Azam’s journey has just started, which gives that much more context to an already exciting encounter.

Weighing in on the most frequently made comparison between both the batting sensations who will be leading their sides in the ongoing ICC World T20 2021, Younis gave his two cents on Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam debate by saying, “Although it feels good, but we should not compare Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.”

While Virat Kohli was first seen donning Indian colours in 2008 against Sri Lanka, Pakistani sensation Babar Azam debuted for the Men in Green in 2015 against Zimbabwe in Lahore. Babar Azam later went on to displace the Indian skipper’s reign as the No.1-ranked One-Day International (ODI) batter in April this year.

Now all eyes are on Sunday’s big-ticket clash of the titans to see who emerges on top in the capacity of both a skipper as well as a crucial top-order batsman for their respective countries.
