Eoin Morgan Feels Eye Catching T10 Format Can Be Played In Olympics

Eoin Morgan feels the Olympics is a huge opportunity to grow the game of cricket by including the T10 format in the showpiece event.

England skipper Eoin Morgan came out in support of the T10 format being included in the Olympic Games as the 10-over game is a sort of “eye-catching entertainment” and is fan-friendly too.

Eoin Morgan Is A Huge Fan Of T10 And Wants The Format To Be Included In The  Olympics

In addition to numerous modern-day tried and tested white-ball players, namely Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Faf du Plessis, T10 League 2021 comprises four retired Indian cricketers in Yusuf Pathan, Munaf Patel, Abhimanyu Mithun and Yo Mahesh (157 domestic matches across formats).

“I am not actually quite sure because I am always trying to bring in new ideas and grow the game even bigger. The Olympics is a huge opportunity to do that. Ever since I have played T10, it’s sort of eye-catching entertainment because I am a huge fan,” said Morgan on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi T10 League where he is playing for Delhi Bulls.

“All my family and friends watch the game and they go out and come back and watch another game. It’s very fan-friendly and if you are looking to sell our game to people who haven’t watched cricket before, I think it’s a really flexible way to do that.”

“Introduce them to watch different formats and I haven’t found a better way than T10 for a format to play in the Olympics,” he added.

Delhi Bulls have won all their three games in the ongoing T10 League, and Eoin Morgan feels the team can go on to win the title this year.

“We have a strong team and missing Jason Roy obviously hurts us. We have plenty of talent and are looking forward to it,” said Morgan.

Earlier this year, the ICC had confirmed that it will bid for cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Eoin Morgan: Dwayne Bravo Will Be Key To Delhi Bull’s Success

The England skipper, who is playing under the leadership of T20 legend Dwayne Bravo, feels the former West Indies all-rounder will be a key player if Delhi Bulls win the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

“I think it will be huge, Bravo is one of the most experienced T20 cricketers in the world if not the most, you think how long he has been around and how many games he has played,” said Morgan.

“The biggest factor that he is a winner and won competitions around the world and won the T20 World Cup as well, so he is going to be essential and hopefully achieving success,” he signed off.

Eoin Morgan believes that the T10 format of cricket is an eye-catching entertainment, and it can be played in the Olympics. Morgan, who is currently plying his trade for Delhi Bulls in T10 League 2021-22, lauded Dwayne Bravo and feels that the veteran all-rounder can lead the team to a title win.

The Abu Dhabi T10 cricket league is a 10-over format game, and six teams, namely Deccan Gladiators, Chennai Braves, Team Abu Dhabi, Bangla Tigers, Northern Warriors, and Delhi Bulls, are competing with each other in the tournament. The 2021-22 edition, which started on November 19, will take place for 15 days, and the summit clash will be held on December 4.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20: Semi-Finals Round-Up – Karnataka And Tamil Nadu Will Again Meet In The Final

Like the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019/20 final, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are set to meet another final in this season and that is in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20. While Karnataka won that earlier final in that 50-over format, Tamil Nadu will try to take revenge in the upcoming final of the 20-over format on this Sunday (1st December).

On Friday (29th November), both teams won their respective semi-final matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20. At first, Karnataka beat Haryana, and then, Tamil Nadu defeated Rajasthan.

After winning the toss, Karnataka decided to bowl first. Most of the Haryana top-order batsmen batted very well. Except for the final over of that innings, Haryana batsmen mostly dominated against the Karnataka bowlers.

Opener Chaitanya Bishnoi (55) and Himanshu Rana (61) played 50+ knocks in that innings. Meanwhile, another opener Harshal Patel (34) and Rahul Tewatia (32) also played 30+ knocks.

But in the final over of that innings, Abhimanyu Mithun snatched the entire limelight. While Haryana were batting on 192/3 in 19 overs, they finished that innings on 194/8 in 20 overs. Mithun not only took a hat-trick, but he also took wickets in four successive deliveries and ended with five wickets in that single over. Mithun finished that innings with the bowling figures of 4-0-39-5.

In reply, openers KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal managed a firing start and put the 125 runs partnership for the opening wicket. While Rahul scored 66 runs off 31 balls, Padikkal scored 87 runs off 42 balls. Mayank Agarwal remained not out on 30 runs off 14 balls and the captain Manish Pandey was batting on three runs. They chased down that target in 15 overs.

Tamil Nadu captain Dinesh Karthik decided to field first after winning the toss. Rajasthan batting totally disappointed from the early of that innings. Captain Deepak Chahar, who played a match-winning unbeaten 55 runs in the last game against Delhi, opened that innings with Ankit Lamba but failed to provide a good start. Chahar scored just nine runs while Lamba was dismissed on 15 runs.

Apart from the opener Lamba, Rajesh Bishnoi (23), Ravi Bishnoi (22*) and Chandrapal Singh (15) were the only other batsmen to reach the double-digit scores in that innings. Finally, Rajasthan scored 112/9.

Most of the Tamil Nadu bowlers were in total control in that game. Only Vijay Shankar (2/13) managed to take more than one wicket in that entire game. Five other bowlers of this side also picked up one wicket each, including Washington Sundar (1/2) and Ravichandran Ashwin (1/7).

Chasing down that target, opener C Hari Nishanth lost his wicket in the first over without opening the team’s account. However, another opener Ravichandran Ashwin handled that early situation very well along with Washington Sundar. They put the 69 runs partnership for the second wicket. While Ashwin was dismissed on 31 runs off 33 balls, Sundar guided the team to the safe victory with his brilliant half-century.

Abhimanyu Mithun’s Last over

First prey of the Mithun was Rana on the slower short ball. Next one to move to the dressing room was Rahul Tewatia, who gave the catch to long-off fielder Karun Nair, followed by Sumit Kumar getting out on slower ball and Mithun registered a hat-trick but the show was not over.
