The Hobart Hurricanes are an Australian professional men’s T20 cricket team based in Tasmania, Australia. They compete in Australia’s domestic T20 cricket competition known as The Big Bash League (BBC) Their team represents Hobart. The Hurricanes play their home matches at Blundstone Arena.
Hobart Hurricanes started their inaugural season with a bang, beating Perth Scorchers by 31 runs. Sydney Sixers, Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder faced the same fate as Hurricanes won their first four games of the campaign. They lost two of the remaining three games but still managed to make it to the semifinal as the second-placed team. However, they lost to eventual winners Sydney Sixers in the semifinal.
Following the semifinal finish in the inaugural season, the Hurricanes started the new season on a winning note, beating Brisbane Heat by eight wickets. However, things just did not go their way for the rest of the season. They managed to win three games in a row at one stage but missed out on the semifinal finish due to poor net run-rate. The Hurricanes finished the season at the sixth position.
After missing out on the semifinal finish due to poor net run-rate in the previous season, the Hurricanes made it to finals this term for the same reason. Their first game of the season did not yield any result before they won their second to start the season on a good note. However, they managed to win just 2 of their remaining six games but advanced to the semifinals ahead of Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades. In the semifinal, they crushed Melbourne Stars by seven wickets to advance to their first final. However, their hopes of winning their first-ever BBL title was ended by Perth Scorchers in the final.
The Hurricanes started the season with a thumping 52-run win over Melbourne Stars. However, it was not the precursor of how the rest of the season would unfold. They never managed to gain the momentum and ended the season at the fifth position after managing three wins from eight games.
Hobart Hurricanes suffered a crushing 95-run loss to Sydney Sixers in their season-opener. However, they quickly bounced back and won the next three games. But they could not win any more game for the rest of the season and ended at seventh position with just 3 wins from 8 games.
The new season did not change Hurricanes’ fortunes as they failed to improve their seventh-spot finish in the last season. The Hobart-based franchise started the season on a promising note, beating last season’s finalists Sydney Sixers by 60 runs. However, things soon god pretty bad as they lost two games in a row. They eventually ended the season at the seventh position with just 3 wins in 8 games.
The seventh season of the competition saw the teams playing ten games instead of eight like the previous seasons. Hobart Hurricanes began their season with two heavy defeats against Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder. However, they quickly bounced back and won the next five games to seal a spot in the semifinal. In the semifinal, they thrashed Perth Scorchers by 71 runs before losing to Adelaide Strikers in the final.
