Two years ago around the 2020 summer, Rey Mysterio’s daughter Aalyah Mysterio made her debut on WWE TV on Raw. At the age of just 19, she got involved in a romantic storyline with former WWE Superstar Murphy/Buddy Murphy (current AEW wrestler Buddy Mathews). Their age gap was a big topic of discussion for the IWC at that timespan the romantic angle existed.
Aalyah Mysterio and Murphy even featured in a kissing segment in the middle of the storyline that suggested that WWE might be having a long-term plan around the storyline. However, it never had a successful culmination as Murphy was eventually released from the WWE and that ongoing program came to a sudden end.

Then on last night’s Raw, a party was held for Rey Mysterio, backstage for the 20th WWE anniversary of his legendary wrestler. His wife, Angie Mysterio, and daughter Aalyah Mysterio were in attendance to present him with his original WCW Halloween Havoc 1997 gear. The celebration was likely to be stretched out but Judgment Day crashed it.
The heel faction’s Rhea Ripley returned to the show to crash the party. The former Raw Women’s Champion got into the face of Aalyah Mysterio and pie-faced her to prompt an attack. It should be noted that Ripley is currently dating the ex-WWE Superstar Murphy. So, the confrontation between the two ladies prompted social media to engage in more discussion about the segment.

Rhea Ripley – Aalyah Mysterio confronted on Raw
After Aalyah Mysterio was shoved down, Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest arrived at the scene to launch an attack on Dominik. Rey wanted to make the save but he was double-teamed by the two heels. The WWE Officials came to the scene to separate them and stop the brawl. Eventually, it was announced that Rey and his son, Dominik, will wrestle in a tag team match against The Judgement Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest at Summerslam in a No-DQ affair.
The stipulation of the matchup would allow the likes of Aalyah Mysterio and other Mysterio family members to be at ringside to support the Mysterios. But at the same time, the returning Rhea Ripley could also be benefitted from it by supporting the Judgment Day members.
The Nightmare hasn’t been seen since the June 6 edition of Monday Night Raw due to injuries related to her brain and teeth. On that night, Ripley would defeat Alexa Bliss, Doudrop, and Liv Morgan in a fatal 4-way to become the Number-One Contender for Bianca Belair’s WWE Raw Women’s Championship and set up a match at Money in the Bank. However, due to her injuries, she would never receive the title match opportunity.
