This week’s AEW Dynamite crowned a new Number-one Contender for the AEW Women’s Championship while there’s a piece of bad news from the Women’s Division as well since a top superstar is confirmed to be injured. One of the biggest news coming out of the latest AEW tapings was an injury suffered by Kris Statlander, one of the top stars on the women’s roster.
After being absent from TV, Statlander went from being ranked number two in the women’s division to unranked owing to this injury. She previously worked in a match during the AEW Dark tapings on August 5th. She reportedly hurt her foot in a spot where she got hit by a big boot and thereby had an awkward landing.

Toni Storm gunning for title match opportunity on AEW Dynamite
A backstage segment also went down on AEW Dynamite between AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm. Although these two have been teaming in recent weeks under the tag team of Thunder Storm, Storm is also currently the number one contender in the women’s division.
During the segment, Storm mentioned how her goal has always been to become the women’s champion in AEW and keep her current momentum going. Rosa didn’t mention when she’d like to give Storm a title match opportunity.
It appears that the two are on a collision course on AEW Dynamite for a rematch at All Out is set for the Labor Day weekend, although nothing regarding this has been confirmed. For the time being, the two would continue to form as a tag team for the foreseeable future.
It’s also possible that at All Out PPV, there could be a multi-woman match. In Statlander’s absence Storm is currently ranked number one while Britt Baker and Athena follow her in the next positions. Involving these women, that there could be a multi-woman match at the upcoming PPV event. We’ll have to wait at least a couple of more AEW Dynamite episodes to know more about this match.
