AEW WrestleDream 2023 is going to be the next big pay-per-view planned for this Sunday on behalf of the All Elite Wrestling promotion. As promoted by AEW President Tony Khan, this PPV is going to kick off a new era in his company despite the lack of ticket sales. It’s assumed that AEW will eventually try to offer a few surprises to make the show a memorable one. The possibilities certainly include the debut of a WWE Hall of Famer.

Edge’s time in WWE is seemingly over after the 25th-year anniversary celebration in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and it appears that he could be gearing up to make a grand appearance at AEW WrestleDream 2023. The speculations became rife after the announcement came that his best friend Christian Cage would headline the event against Darby Allin in the two-out-of-three falls TNT Championship match.

It was previously reported that Edge’s contract with WWE was expiring at the end of September and that he and WWE weren’t on the same page for a new deal. It was also reported that Edge was seen jumping ship to AEW, although he himself has never specifically confirmed anything regarding his beef with WWE or having talks with AEW.

Edge to debut at AEW WrestleDream 2023 as Adam Copeland

Now that Edge’s longtime onscreen partner and rival, as well as real-life best friend, Christian is set for AEW WrestleDream 2023 main event, fans are being forced to think that Edge is AEW-bound indeed. However, the character Edge can’t appear on AEW TV as he is trademarked by the WWE. So, Adam Copeland could end up making his AEW debut to end the brand-new PPV.

Ringside News previously reported that there is an internal belief within WWE that Edge was going to AEW. Sean Sapp also reported that there is a belief within AEW that Tony Khan has managed to sign Adam Copeland to a new contract in time for AEW WrestleDream 2023.

Then during Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted an interesting point about Edge’s contract status. The veteran pro wrestling journalist stated that Edge’s original WWE contract actually expired on the last day of September and hence he has no contractual obligations to appear at AEW WrestleDream 2023,

“I mean, his contract expires on Saturday, so he could show up on Sunday [for WrestleDream].”
