After months of anticipation, The Rock returning to WWE programming has finally become official. He is coming back to grace the 20th anniversary of Friday Night SmackDown on October 4th which also marks the season premiere of the show on FOX Network. WWE.com issued the following statement to confirm that we will indeed see the Brahma-Bull back on WWE TV after a long hiatus of more than three years,

“Finally The Rock has come back to lay the SmackDown on the highly-anticipated FOX premiere. The star-studded premiere adds even more Hollywood style as the “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” headliner announced on Twitter that he’d be returning for Friday Night SmackDown in Los Angeles this Friday.

The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment has provided countless SmackDown memories and looks to add another chapter in the blue brand’s FOX debut. Tune in to catch The People’s Champion and a host of other WWE Hall of Famers starting with FOX’s “blue carpet” special at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT this Friday, Oct. 4.”

The appearance of The Rock added a special reason to tune in on SmackDown on this Friday Night as WWE eyes to pull off the maximum viewership for the show. Legends like Goldberg, Stone Cold, Sting, Trish Stratus and more will be there to grace the show, as well. There’s no update on which capacity The Rock may appear. But one last match for the Great One can still be in the pipeline in the future.

The Rock was in promotion spree for his movie Skycrapper when the interview host asked about getting back in the WWE. He mentioned this experience to be an unmatchable one that he is eagerly waiting for. The former world champion can’t think of a better opportunity to connect with the audience other than WWE.

Here are the words from The Great One, (courtesy stillrealtous.com)
“I can’t wait to get back into the WWE ring. Everybody always asks me, ‘what’s it like being in a WWE ring?’ I always tell them there’s nothing like it. There’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none. That was, and will always be the best part of my job, whether I’m actually wrestling a match, or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”

The Rock featured in his last match in the WWE at Wrestlemania 32. It was against Eric Rowan which barely lasted for six seconds. We will wait and see whether WWE arranges one last match for him. Rumors are going on about WWE getting him ready for one last match at next year’s ‘Mania that emanates from his home state of Florida.
