The headlining match for WWE Day 1 has been announced in the form of Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns as the duo collides for the Universal Championship. This is going to be a rematch for the Crown Jewel PPV event from late October, proving the earlier reports right that they are likely to compete in a series of matches.
In more update to the situation, it’s been reported again that WWE is indeed moving forward with plans for a series of matches between these two top superstars. As noted, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for WWE Day 1 was confirmed this past Friday on SmackDown, and reports affirming the program will continue following the inaugural pay-per-view event in 2022.

In the latest report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that WWE plans to have a series of matches, and the main event of WWE Day 1 is just one of the matches in the Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns series,
“Regarding Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar as the main event for Day One, this is scheduled to be a multi-match series and this being one of the matches in the series.”

Brock Lesnar could be main-eventing Wrestlemania 38
There’s no confirmed update on when the next Lesnar vs. Reigns match will take place after WWE Day 1, but illogically it makes sense that it could happen, again at the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 29 from The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
If that’s not it then Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns is also expected to headline WrestleMania 38 from the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on April 2 and 3. Since there’s no confirmation is available on how many bouts are planned in this multi-match series between the two, WWE may just allow Lesnar to win the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match in January via which he would go on to challenge Reigns at The Biggest Event of Them All in April. As of now, no PPV event is scheduled between Royal Rumble 2022 and WrestleMania 38.
Brock Lesnar returned from a storyline suspension during this past week’s episode of Smackdown and delivered a beatdown on Sami Zayn allowing Roman Reigns to retain over him in a quick fashion after which WWE officially announced him for Day 1 title match.
