Cathy Kelley originally joined the WWE in February 2016 as part of the company’s digital media team. She became a regular face on WWE programming for her roles as a backstage interviewer, and social media correspondent. She was mainly given the duties of hosting WWE Now episodes on YouTube and then conducting interviews on NXT.

Before entering the fray in the WWE, Cathy Kelley was a professional wrestling fan who got inspired to watch the contests in the ring. The backstage WWE host and interviewer recently talked to Joe Vulpis on an episode of Lightweights Podcast where she discussed that watching AJ Lee piqued her interest in wrestling,

“I told this to CM Punk recently, that AJ Lee was the reason why I started watching wrestling, and I would really love to do a sit-down interview with her.”

It was further noted by Cathy Kelley that she loves long interviewing as the hosts get the opportunity to know their guests well. Before joining the WWE, she imagined interviewing AJ Lee for a few hours. The former three-time Divas Champion thus acted as the catalyst to drag the current WWE personality into the wrestling business.

Cathy Kelley wants to interview WWE’s Michael Cole

Meanwhile, AJ isn’t the only personality that Cathy Kelley would like to interview. Rather, she would also like to talk with a long-time WWE personality for a discussion. She wants to go after the voice of the WWE and Monday Night Raw to pick his brain,

“I think I would put Michael Cole on the spot. I feel like he hasn’t been interviewed in a long time. I know that’s not the answer you’re looking for, but I’ve gone back and watched several of his interviews from back in the day. He had a good rapport with The Rock, he had a good rapport with Steve Austin for better or for worse.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

After getting released by the WWE in 2020, it was during the 2022 Draft in October that Cathy Kelley was rehired by the WWE as a regular broadcaster on television. She started appearing on WWE TV starting from the Extreme Rules premium live event before getting assigned to the Raw brand via a reshuffling during the season premiere of the show. Since then, she’s mostly been seen doing interviews on Monday nights.
