The modern-day take of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock rivalry will indeed go down at Survivor Series 2020 after Drew McIntyre won the WWE Title, last night. The new WWE Champion is all set to compete against the reigning champion on Smackdown, creating a massive matchup. Thus, WWE also continued its tradition to make changes to the annual event at the very end of the buildup.
Last night’s WWE RAW main event saw Drew McIntyre defeat Randy Orton to capture WWE Championship. This is Drew’s second reign with the most coveted belt in the history of sports entertainment. Orton won the title back at Hell In a Cell on October 25, by defeating McIntyre in a Cell match up. But his record 14th title reign came to an end within a month as he failed to have a successful defense.

Drew McIntyre Wins WWE Title; Survivor Series 2020 Card Changes
Due to the title change, Drew McIntyre will now face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a non-title champion vs. champion match at this Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view. The theme of this particular PPV is that the champions from Raw go head-to-head against the champions from the Smackdown brand.
It should be noted that WWE has built Drew McIntyre as the flag-bearer of the WWE Raw brand for the better part of 2020. On the other hand, Roman Reigns who is the franchise player of the company has been building himself as the Tribal Chief of the WWE Universe since coming back to the scene at Summerslam 2020. So it’s going to be a battle between the top babyface vs the top heel of WWE.
Since both these men are top players of the WWE roster, the creative team previously wanted them to be separated. They didn’t want either Roman Reigns or Drew McIntyre to get pinned or submitted. But now that the match is happening, it’s evident, one of them will have to digest the loss, this Sunday.
