It’s one thing to main-event Wrestlemania at one’s prime while the aspect is totally opposite for Edge who is receiving the honor, this year. He was nowhere close to wrestling in a match a few years ago who made perhaps the greatest comeback in professional wrestling history to make it happen. While every match could be his last, the eleven-time world champion is indeed on his way to a Wrestlemania marquee match.

Edge earned the right to challenge for a title of his choosing at WrestleMania 37 after he outlasted 29 other superstars to win the Royal Rumble match. He opted to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship in a dream match that has now been converted into a Triple Threat also featuring Daniel Bryan. Thus, he will now have to face Reigns and Bryan for the WWE Universal Title in the main event of Night Two of WrestleMania 37.

Now, it’s a fact that if someone wouldn’t even dare to think about this match, at least involving Edge even a couple of years ago. But it’s happening and even the man himself is finding it tough to believe it. While speaking on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, The Rated R Superstar explained how he was not supposed to feature in the main event of WrestleMania as he has an illustrated history of medical issues.

Edge also saying that the triple threat match itself was unlikely due to the injury issues of Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. But since it’s going down and that, too in front of a crowd, he can’t help but thinking how insane this whole thing is going to be. The Hall of Famer then also talked about when he came to know about main eventing WrestleMania 37.

“Um… No. I think now that I’m back, now it’s like, ‘OK, here we go. This is what we need.’ Got it – on it. And all I can do is whatever I can on my end to make sure I bring my part to it, and that’s really all there is to it. And I don’t know if I’ll feel whatever it is I’ll feel until I’m in the ring, and all three of us are standing there, and there’s a crowd again.

That’s when I think it will fully land and dawn on me how insane this whole thing is. Not only just for me, but for those two guys as well. For this combination of three men to be in the ring, main eventing WrestleMania, this was never supposed to happen. Four years ago, there’s not a chance in hell this happens.”

While Edge was medically disqualified from the in-ring competition a decade ago due to a neck injury, Daniel Bryan was forced with the same in 2016. Both these stars made valiant efforts to follow their passion for wrestling. As for Reigns, he once had to quit wrestling for a short time span due to Leukemia. But he was able to put it back to remission and make a strong comeback.
