The Undertaker is back in the squared circle wiping out rumors of retirement following Super ShowDown. He is not going anywhere until and unless Wrestlemania 36 goes down in Orlando, Florida in 2020. For now, he joins forces with Roman Reigns against Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules on this Sunday Night that may set up a Summerslam match.
The Undertaker To Perform In Two More Matches In 2019
Is WWE Planning The Undertaker Vs. Sting Dream Match?
Since The Undertaker has returned to feature in a regular storyline on Monday Night Raw, speculations are all around the internet regarding his involvement in this year’s Summerslam. The host venue itself fuelled those rumors enlisting his name. Local advertisements even announced the potential match for the Phenome which is obviously not official, at this point.
Reason Why Undertaker Returned On WWE Raw
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, local ads in Summerslam host city is promoting The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre. In case you don’t know that biggest event of the summer emanates from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 11th. So WWE could be using ‘Taker as a huge draw in the neighbor country.
However, Meltzer informed us that WWE is yet to finalize the backstage plan around this match. Despite the spread ads and an ongoing storyline, the match is still not on the card, as of now. So there is a chance that the match may not happen despite numerous hints.

The veteran pro-wrestling journalist mentioned this even when Sports Illustrated revealed that The Undertaker himself wanted to get Drew McIntyre as his future opponent. WWE may not be confirming this until Summerslam buildup begins following Extreme Rules. Here’s more from Meltzer,
“There is advertising for Toronto for SummerSlam for Undertaker and Drew McIntyre. I asked about that and I was told not to read anything into it. The fact that they’re advertising that match also tells me that Undertaker is probably going to be at Summerslam.”
Extreme Rules is going to be a key in deciding the fate of this potential Summerslam showdown. The outcome of the currently set No Holds Barred match should plant the seeds for the storyline continuation so that Undertaker can end up competing at Summerslam after a gap of four years.
