John Cena featured in the latest episode of the Fast & Furious franchise named F9 in the antagonist’s role. Led by Vin Diesel’s Dominik Torretto character, the WWE Superstar played the role of his brother to present an action drama that had proven to be a major commercial success. Released on June 25 across the United States theatres, the movie has already hit a number of milestones.

F9 has made more than $70 million in the United States making a record in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic era.
F9 surpassed the domestic launch of Hobbs & Shaw ($60 million), but it didn’t reach the numbers that The Fate of The Furious drew in its opening week in 2017 ($98.8 million). The Rock (who’s also the highest-paid actor in Hollywood) was a part of both Hobbs & Shaw and The Fate of The Furious.

F9 has been released in 4,179 theaters in North America which had the biggest domestic opening weekend since “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (released back in December 2019).
F9 has made more than $400 million, all over the world. The movie drew $30 million itself, last Friday, which is a one-day record in the current pandemic era.

The success of F9 makes the “Fast & Furious” franchise, the 5th biggest movie franchise in the World, by surpassing the X-Men series.
This is the second time that a WWE Legend is involved in a Fast & Furious franchise. As mentioned above, John Cena is playing the role of Jakob Toretto in F9, the brother of the lead character Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). WWE has also congratulated their former franchise player on the success.
Speaking of WWE, John Cena posted the WWE logo on his Instagram page after which a lot of his fans thought that it was an indication of his return to the ring. The F9 star recently confirmed “those rumors are true” in a conversation with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Wednesday.
Referring to the Instagram post he shared a few weeks ago, John Cena mentioned, “I was feeling rather nostalgic about the WWE and I just wanted to post the logo. Some people took it as I was returning immediately, which that’s not the case, but I haven’t had my last match and I can’t wait to have my next one.”
