WWE has a mainstream star in John Cena on their television, these days which has certainly spiked their TV ratings for Smackdown on Friday nights. The Superstar is pulling off double duties at this moment as he is working WWE shows while being busy with promotions for Suicide Squad.

The DC franchise opened this weekend with lower than expected numbers. The James Gunn directed film drew $26.5 million at 4,002 theaters in the United States but it was still the number one in the box office. According to Variety, a rise of COVID-19 cases and the film’s R-rating hurt how much the movie was expected to bring in. The film’s budget is $185 million.

According to F4wonline, 63 percent of the ticket sales for last night’s WWE Supershow at the Hertz Arena in Fort Myers, Florida, were gone after an announcement was made that John Cena would be performing on the show. As noted in the report, Cena’s name has led to anywhere from 18 to 63 percent in new ticket sales. The bygone shows at Louisville, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Fort Myers all had over 50 percent increases.

WWE locker room thankful to John Cena

Following the show in Fort Myers, Sami Zayn made a tweet on how the Cenation Leader praised his match against Finn Balor.

“John Cena watched my match with Finn Balor tonight in Fort Myers, FL and was raving about how great it was, and it made me feel good,” he wrote.

On his way to Summerslam 2021, John Cena is working seamlessly on TV tapings and WWE house shows. And for that, the WWE locker room is extremely thankful. The recent WWE house shows have been headlined by six-man tag team matches between The Bloodline (The team of Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos) vs. Rey and Dominik Mysterios alongside the 16-time world champion.

Mysterio spoke to DAZN to mention how the entire locker room is thankful to the franchise player of the WWE,

“It’s not only good for morale, but the fans are entertained and are buying tickets to go see Cena, my son, and myself. So we get the rub off of John. He made his name in this wrestling world, and now he’s jumped over to Hollywood. But he’s coming back and forth.”

John Cena is set to face Roman Reigns for the Universal title at SummerSlam at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on August 21.
