John Cena wasn’t scheduled to compete on this week’s SmackDown just like the recently bygone weeks since his return to the WWE. In fact, he will possibly only wrestle once on TV and that’ll happen at SummerSlam 2021. But he’s been working on house shows in non-televised matches for which the WWE locker room is grateful.

The dark main event after this week’s WWE SmackDown at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma also witnessed John Cena competing for the live audience in crowd. He teamed up with The Mysterios in an expected lineup that the house show events are witnessing for the past several weeks.

The six-man dark main event match featured Cena, Rey Mysterio, and Dominik Mysterio defeating WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.

As always, Roman Reigns was protected during the finish of the match as he went out of the ring. The finish to the match saw John Cena getting the pin on Jimmy Uso with an Attitude Adjustment after getting a hot tag. Once the match was over, the sixteen-time world champion celebrated with The Mysterios and they also brought a young fan over the barrier with them to end the night in a special way.

Conversation between John Cena & Roman Reigns

Over on the main show of SmackDown, John Cena and Roman Reigns insulted each other during the opening segment. Cena gave Reigns his “report card”, and Reigns got a D grade (Cena also called him D-bag and D-head).

Some of the quick-fire lines can be read as follows,

Cena: Roman Reigns will beat the hell out of me at SummerSlam, but he will lose at SummerSlam.

Reigns: You are good enough to win the WWE Championship, but not the Universal Championship.

Reigns: 20 Years of missionary was good enough for you, but it wasn’t good enough for Nikki Bella.

Cena: That’s why I’m back, dude. I’m that only one that can shut you up.

Cena: You almost ruined Seth Rollins, you ran Dean Ambrose out of WWE.

Cena: All I need is 1, 2, 3…and you’re the biggest FAILURE in WWE history.
