In the first match, Cedric was favorite courtesy of his recent momentums. But a kayfabe injury could have ruined the momentums, (via WWE.com)

“One question mark lingers over the match: a leg that took an absolute pounding during Cedric’s victory over Cesaro last week and is sure to be a big target for the man who is already calling himself King Corbin. Alexander shouldn’t be counted out, but facing a healthy, motivated Corbin does hand him a pre-match disadvantage, and he’ll need all of his heart to overcome it.”

Additionally, The OCs beat him up before the match to leave him in a state where he was not 100 percent. But the former Cruiserweight champion still fought back valiantly with offensive maneuvers. Corbin planted him with a Deep Six which he countered with a Michinoku Driver. But he missed top rope move and digested an End of Days from Corbin to digest the loss. Corbin advanced to the semifinal of King of the Ring tournament.

The prediction for the second match was always with Ricochet who is reportedly on the good books of the WWE creative team. He is also the favorite to win the entire tournament. Hence his spot at the next round was just a matter of moments. However, that did not turn out to be the case WWE officials wanted to keep a bit of twist for next week.

This King of the Ring Quarterfinal matchup ended in a count-out way where both Samoa Joe and Ricochet was not able to answer referee’s counts. Joe countered a top rope move of Ricochet and locked in the Coquina Clutch while hanging in the ropes. Both men fell down on the mat to hurt themselves and the referee had to call the contest off. Moments later, the official John Cone declared that WWE management decided to keep both the men’s spots intact in the tourney. So Corbin will have to face Joe and Ricochet in a triple threat.
