WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was finally able to fight back against Samoa Joe ever since the rivalry over the championship began. These two had a confrontation on Smackdown which ended Joe lying on the mat. Before the face-to-face segment aired, we witnessed a montage from the 6-Man Tag Match from previous night’s Raw where Joe choked out Kofi with the Coquina Clutch. This put Joe to brag about his misdeeds over the past couple of weeks.

Braun Strowman-Bobby Lashley Went Through LED Wall On WWE Raw
He then went straight into a verbal attack mode by mentioning Kofi Kingston earning a Wrestlemania moment earlier this year. We have seen him celebrating with his family which seemed to be a fluke for Joe. Kofi answered back saying Joe is jealous since he’d never have any such moment. He showed a middle finger to Joe before hitting a Trouble in Paradise out of nowhere. It must have been a pleasing experience to Kofi to reply back after suffering ambushes on a number of occasions.
WWE started a new rivalry over greatest title present in sports entertainment back at last week’s edition of WWE Raw. Kofi Kingston was in attendance of the show using Wild Card Rule to defeat Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in back to back matches. This must have kept these two away from the title picture giving relief to the current champion. But he could not predict what was in store for him, next.
While exiting the ramp, Samoa Joe came out of nowhere to attack the Dreadlocked Dynamo of the WWE. He assaulted the WWE Champion on the ramp and locked in the Coquina Clutch to pass him out. It was an emphatic statement after which WWE announced the next WWE title defense for Kofi Kingston. The Samoan Submission machine continued to do the same after which WWE.com further hinted it’s Joe who had the advantage,
“Last night on Raw, Samoa Joe stood tall at the conclusion of a Six-Man Tag Team Match, taking WWE Champion Kofi Kingston out with the Coquina Clutch to win the battle against The New Day alongside The Viking Raiders. As the championship showdown at Extreme Rules draws closer, can Kofi Kingston bounce back, or has Joe gained the upper hand?”
But by the end of Smackdown, it was none other than the champion who turned the momentums towards himself.
